SM Generations
It all began with t-shirts when Ben Chan opened a small outlet of men's t-shirts at the SM Boutique Square in Makati in 1987. With its dazzling images of celebrity endorsers, television ads and giant billboards, Bench has become a fashion brand that offers premium quality products at affordable prices. Today, with his brother-in-law Virgilio Lim in charge of systems and operations and Virgilio's son Bryan as head of business development, Bench has grown to include a ladies line, underwear, fragrances, houseware, snacks, and a wide array of products in 270 company-owned stores, 30 franchisees, and 218 concessionaires in the Philippines, as well as 57 franchise outlets in China, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Riyadh, the United States, Guam, and Palau. Given its auspicious start at SM, Bench has 107 stores in the SM malls nationwide including three in SM's China malls. The spirit of innovation is something SM and Bench have shared in their many years of partnership, giving the best in products and services to serve the ever-changing needs of their customers.
